Xiaomi ZAJIA Automatic Sense Infrared Induction Water Saving – package

Some of the products we test really can improve your life. However, some of the items are novelty product since they don’t add value to ones life. The Xiaomi Zajia has great potential, being a water faucet extension that adds non-touch controls to your faucet. According to the marketing department it improves hygiene and it also saves water. But how easy is it to install and how practical is it to use? And does it back up those claims on hygiene and water saving?

Expectations

It’s Xiaomi so I expect a Chinese manual that I didn’t need, in a white colored box and as usual a beautiful product. But to be honest this would be one of the few items where I had my doubts. Is it useful, would it fit and do I not have some leakage?

Build Quality & Design

However it is a well-designed product it looks kinda cheap on a chrome or stainless steel faucet. The sensors are accurate and both the device itself as the installation of it are examples of good engineering.

Usability of the Xiaomi Zajia

Because of the six adapters installation is always possible and very easy to do even if you are not a plumber. Remove your current tap aerator and replace it with one of the six adapters. Then charge the sensor unit and with a simple click you attach the unit to the adapter. Easy as that! Because of the six adapters I can’t imagine that there are normal kitchen cranes where this product doesn’t fit.

When you have your hands full or they are dirty, this devices is very handy, because without touching you can control your faucet (on/off).
The intensity of the waterflow and the length of the pulse are not adaptable.

The internal battery is safely covered between a rubber pad and cannot be removed but you can charge it by USB. Just a matter of detaching the unit and charge it with a micro USB cable. This was not needed in the time (3 months) I used the Xiaomi Zajia.

One of the arguments to buy a devices like this is to save water. The water tap is automatically turning off when using the pulse sensor, but in my case I don’t spill water when not using. But I can Imagine that if you have kinds this devices can be a real saver:
do not spill, they don’t have to use the normal way to set the water speed and temperature (so they can’t mistake to choose hot water).
